[17:03] Jaguar Constantine: good, and you? nice to meet you
[17:03] Selina Graycloud: Applause ใ‹ก
[17:03] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: I have to say i am surprised with the turn out and really happy
[17:03] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: some of you may know me, some others i am fairly new to
[17:04] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: I have been doing SL photography for over 2 years now, working for all kinds of fields, working with BOSL, Maniera and Radar Magazine as well as the Fashion Teller
[17:04] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: As lulu said the fashion institute is where we met, i taught photography there and i thought it would be nice to share a little bit about that again with all of you
[17:05] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: so if you look at the viewer, you will see an image
[17:05] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: i finished that image this week for CottonCandy Teardrop and myself (please don’t touch the viewer)
[17:06] Amir Jervil: sorry
[17:06] Amir Jervil: trying to cam
[17:06] Adiuvo: its fab picture
[17:06] Lulu Breuer: yes
[17:06] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: and today i will teach you the post processing that i had to perform in order to achieve the result
[17:07] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: that is why in the notice it was said that basic knowledge of PS was needed
[17:07] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: To start off right, we need to take the image with depth colors.
[17:07] Lyrica Destiny: kicks sl so i can see it
[17:08] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: depth colors is the same color, in this case green, that determines where the horizon will be located, so that when we create the background we can place it correctly.
[17:09] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: The next step is to extract that color, to do that we go into menu SELECT and select COLOR RANGE
[17:09] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: then go in the submenu in the little box that will appear and select greens
[17:09] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: This will create a selection all round our green area and now you simply click the eraser key and the color will go poof
[17:10] Lulu Breuer: *:-.,_,.-:*’“’*Yayyyyyyy!!!!*:-.,_,.-:*’“’*
[17:10] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: of course in this workshop we are dealing with background and not editing so the next step is to shade the avatars to give it a more realistic look.
[17:10] Lulu Breuer: ใ‹ก
[17:10] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: *giggles* logo
[17:11] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: well as you can see, now the 2 models have been post processed, shadowed, lighting marked and they are ready to start creating the background.
[17:11] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: so far… any doubts?
[17:12] Jaguar Constantine: no
[17:12] Lyrica Destiny: nope
[17:12] Adiuvo: no thanks
[17:12] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: ok perfect
[17:12] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: we hide the layer where our models are and we add the background
[17:12] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: this is found in
[17:13] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: if you notice this is a simple background, nothing major
[17:13] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: now to make this more interesting we will add an adjustment layer called vibrance
[17:13] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: at -69
[17:14] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: this will soften the light in teh image and give it a more nostalgic look.
[17:14] Midi Aeon: Lovely.. which version of PS are you using for this?
[17:14] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: for this one i went with PS4
[17:14] Midi Aeon: ty
[17:14] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: usually i work on 5 but not this time
[17:15] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: this is the base image for the grass that we will add in the background.
[17:15] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: Add the grass image and erase the parts to make it look as part of the environment and make it black and white.
[17:15] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: then, duplicate layer and change color to a dark brown and “Multiply” the layer and add an adjustment layer “photo filter” in Warming colors.
[17:15] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: Add one layer with a brush in black giving it shadowing on the bottom to make it match the background coloring, place all layers in a group and set opacity at 80%.
[17:16] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: and your result will be an almost matching shading between the original image and this image, then you make the models layer visible again and place them.
[17:17] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: to make them a bit more realistic, i always erase the lower part of the model’s feet, making it look as if she is lost with the grass at her feet.
[17:18] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: and then i paint over the feet with a special “grass” brush, you can get this at and paint on a new layer on top of the model’s feet.
[17:18] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: this makes the image look a bit more realistic, as if i had taken the shot on location.
[17:19] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: Add a new layer and brush over it with a light yellow coloring only one 1 side then blur.
[17:19] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: then make this 80% opacity.
[17:19] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: to create a soft light idea.
[17:19] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: On a new layer paint black to give a shadow on the open side where the models left.
[17:20] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: and turn that to opacity as you see fit, i placed it at 69% Opacity.
[17:21] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: Finally you Add another adjustment layer called PHOTO FILTER in Deep Blue
[17:21] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: to make it a tad colder.
[17:21] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: save the image in psd and then in the layers submenu select FLATTEN IMAGE
[17:21] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: then save in a jpeg file and voila ๐Ÿ˜›
[17:21] Lulu Breuer: wooot woooot
[17:22] Jaguar Constantine: fab
[17:22] Midi Aeon: APPLAUSE!!!
[17:22] Midi Aeon: Applause!!
[17:22] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: we always have to remember if you use the photo filters you will give it either a cold or a warm feeling
[17:22] Prism’s BSMe Mailer: Monica Balut, Lots of exciting surprises await you at Prism this weekend! Come join in the fun!
[17:22] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: if you go into reds you warm the image for example for headshots, and really “pretty lovey” pictures
[17:23] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: and if you go into blues you make the image cold this i recommend for erotica, nudes and images with a lot of shadows
[17:23] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: try and work on small things this is the way you get 100% out of Photoshop.
[17:24] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: there are a ton of different tools just waiting for you to play with them ๐Ÿ˜€
[17:24] Selina Graycloud: ใ‹ก
[17:24] Jaguar Constantine: ok, maybe I ve done it before, and just dont know that this is called like this…but….
[17:24] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: any doubts?
[17:24] Jaguar Constantine: how do I add photofilters
[17:24] Lyrica Destiny: none here
[17:24] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: in adjustemnt layers
[17:24] Midi Aeon: I’m fine
[17:24] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: if yo go to menu window you can see adjustment layer
[17:25] Adiuvo: I am good too
[17:25] TymonAlexander: hello sorry been late but i wouldn’t miss this class ๐Ÿ˜‰
[17:25] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: you mark it and you can see it there.
[17:25] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: photofilter usually has a camera ๐Ÿ˜€
[17:25] Amir Jervil: what is that used for photofilter
[17:25] Jaguar Constantine: ty
[17:26] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: to make an image colder or warmer
[17:26] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: reds = warm, blues = cold
[17:26] Amir Jervil: ~’,’,’Oh..kay..kay..kay’,’,’~
[17:26] Amir Jervil: yes ok
[17:26] Linda Reddevil: when you take your initial picture in SL what resolution do you use?
[17:26] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: i shoot at 6000×4000 for ads
[17:27] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: and 4500×3150 for normal images
[17:27] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: i work everything at 150dpis
[17:27] TymonAlexander: the higher is the best more hight resolutation you take more you pixels look clean and you can resiez it befor you uplod it back to sl
[17:27] Jaguar Constantine: no
[17:27] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: the higher resolution the best your edit can be.
[17:27] Midi Aeon: okay.. question.. how do I set the resolution to be that high?
[17:27] Prism’s BSMe Mailer owned by Journey McLaglen gave you ‘Half Price on Orange and Yellow Items! Plus a Halloween Gift!’ ( Bal Harbour (60,173,1491) ).
[17:27] Jaguar Constantine: i ve got chatlag, sorry
[17:27] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: when you take a pic in SL
[17:27] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: you get a dialogue box
[17:28] Midi Aeon: right
[17:28] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: make sure you mark “keep open”
[17:28] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: and then you look at where width and height is
[17:28] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: and write the numbers
[17:28] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: if it’s constrained then it will set the second by default
[17:28] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: if not you can set both numbers.
[17:28] Midi Aeon: cool, I thought I had to use the choices available ๐Ÿ™‚ That’s awesome
[17:28] Amir Jervil: in photoshop when u firts start you have to set the resolution.. what do u usually set it on
[17:29] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: 150dpi
[17:29] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: and if it’s an add 300dpi
[17:29] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: ad*
[17:29] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: even if it is for web
[17:29] Linda Reddevil: and when you say you save in PSD..that’s a better overall higher quality than a JPG?
[17:29] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: well i save always the psd in case i made a mistake
[17:30] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: but SL requires PNG, JPEG, TGA
[17:30] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: PNG = alphas
[17:30] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: JPEG images
[17:30] Lulu Breuer: you can save as a bitmap too
[17:30] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: and TGA usually to save channels
[17:30] Lulu Breuer: when you take the photos
[17:30] Linda Reddevil: which is better?
[17:30] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: bitmap takes away ALOT of quality
[17:30] TymonAlexander: i have question ;p i take my pic on sl with colors background and i take all color and keep only the avatars but sometimes i still have some green for simple around hair evun with eaiser it still there
[17:30] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: JPEG is best
[17:31] Linda Reddevil: ok ty

[17:32] TymonAlexander: if i replace it will change the dress parts color
[17:32] Jaguar Constantine: I ll take the hue saturation for it
[17:33] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: that’s why i am extremely patient
[17:33] Jaguar Constantine: choosing the color which shines through and turn hue down to grey
[17:33] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: nods that works too
[17:33] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: it depends on how you want to work it

[17:34] TymonAlexander: yes one more lol

[17:35] TymonAlexander: with blure ?
[17:35] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: well you would have to know and understand about depth and perspective
[17:36] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: closer stuff nedd to be focused whereas the ones that are far are not focused so yeah i blusr them mostly.
[17:36] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: this one is softly blurred
[17:36] TymonAlexander: thank yu ๐Ÿ˜‰
[17:37] Adiuvo: may I ask for importing back into Sl what is the best size?
[17:37] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: depends on what you need
[17:37] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: i import at 3000×3000
[17:37] TymonAlexander: you can’t have more than 2800 it s limit isn’t it ?
[17:37] LovelyMiwako7399 Menna: and by default SL makes it 1024
[17:38] Adiuvo: that is great thank you
[17:38] Midi Aeon: wouldn’t it be better to import it at 1024 so you don’t let SL delete 2/3rds of your information?
[17:38] Lyrica Destiny: nothing hre i good
[17:38] Lulu Breuer: just a note on file fomats, bmp have no compression, png and tga have lossless compression and jpg are compressed within an inch of their lives

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this website. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s difficult to get that “perfect balance” between superb usability and appearance. I must say that you’ve done a great job with this. Also, the blog loads super quick for me on Firefox. Outstanding Blog!
